Principal’s message
Welcome to R. H. Cornish Public School!
Situated in a small town setting, R.H. Cornish P.S. offers strong academic programs along with a wide variety of co-curricular activities for approximately 600 from JK to Grade Eight students on three different instructional tracks. We successfully address the diverse academic and social needs of our students by offering an English track for students in our catchment area, a French Immersion track for students in the Port Perry area who wish to take their educational instruction in French and a Gifted track for students from Beaverton to the south edge of Scugog township.
In addition to our regular programs we also offer YMCA Before/After School Daycare and we are partnered with the Ontario Early Years Program to engage our soon to be R. H. Cornish students even before they enter into Junior Kindergarten. Our school has a continuing history of extensive community and parental involvement in supporting our school’s educational goals and reflects the ideals.
The attitudes and commitment of our students reflect the strong community support of R.H. Cornish Public School. We have an active School Community Council committed to supporting the educational goals of the school and working collaboratively with staff to promote the academic, social and emotional growth of all of our students. The Ten Character Traits identified by the Durham District School Board guide our school community on a daily basis in building and maintaining a positive school culture extending from the physical classroom setting to online activities related to learning.
